As part of the interdisciplinary conference on design and experience of interaction with sound, AudioMostly 2021, Frederic Font presented on Thursday 2 September "SOURCE: a Freesound Community Music Sampler". SOURCE is an open-source music sampler powered by Freesound's collection of 500k Creative Commons sounds contributed by a community of thousands of people around the world. SOURCE is a sampler that does not sample. Instead, it provides different ways to load sounds from Freesound and instantly generate new sound palettes to enrich the creative process and bring an endless SOURCE of inspiration.

AudioMostly brings together thinkers and doers from academia and industry who share an interest in sonic interaction and audio for interface design. This remit covers product design, auditory display, computer games and virtual environments, new musical instruments, and education and workplace tools. It further includes fields such as the psychology of sound and music, cultural studies, system engineering, and everything in between in which sonic interaction plays a role.

On Friday, 3 September, Ilaria Sartori, collaborator of the MTG in the project "Sons de Barcelona", presented Freesound in a conference dedicated to sound maps organized by L'École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris: Mappemondes sonores au XXIème siècle. Une autre approche des lieux. It brought together researchers from multiple disciplines related to sound mapping, with specific focus on global sound maps. Ilaria introduced Freesound as a tool for pedagogy, research, creation, and social activism.
