NICOLA ABATE
PhD Candidate
Nicola Abate holds a bachelor degree in Philosophy (dissertation in History of political doctrine) at University of Naples Federico II and a master degree at the same university in Philosophical sciences (dissertation in Political philosophy) awarded “cum laude”.
Scholarship holder at the “Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici” and at the University of Milan-Bicocca for the Advanced Programme in "Teoria critica della società". Speaker in several international conferences (Critical Legal Conference 2019, 5th Braga Colloquium in the History of Moral and Political Philosophy etc), he is also a member of the “Società Italiana di Teoria Critica” and of the “Nordic Society for Phenomenology”.
Currently, Nicola is a Ph.D. candidate of Philosophy of Law Area at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, under the supervision of Prof. Josep Joan Moreso. His fields of interest are: metaethics and philosophy of religion; jurisprudence, general theory of norms, and legal positivism; democratic theory and political institutions; theory of legitimacy and theory of justice. His research is focused on the analysis of the concept of law in Habermas and Weber and on the importance of a democratically strong political and constitutional structure for the project of the European integration.
