NeuroMADS is a student club with the aim of developing projects in the field of BCI.

NeuroMADS is a student club formed by Miguel Casal, Agustín Rovira, David Alonso and Santiago Gaella, all biomedicine engineer students, interested in technology and human brain biology. Their goal is to develop projects based on the BCI field.

Brain Computer Interface (BCI) is defined as a direct communication between a brain and a machine. An external system receives brain waves that are processed and intercepted by a computer. This way, it allows our brain to interact with the external world only by thoughts. This system is formed by to elemental parts: a neuronal signal detector device and a software with signal processor and learning algorithms.

BCI is used in neuro-rehabilitation cases, neuro-exoskeletons, machinery control, virtual reality, neuro-music and videogames.

NeuroMADS have been developing their project bMotion which consists of  a BCI commanded orthotic for using on patients who need rehabilitation because of a cerebral stroke, or neuronal death that leads into hemiplegia. This reduces mobility, usually on upper limbs, which needs rehabilitation to regain their functionality. With bMotion, they hope to accelerate the process of rehabilitation with BCI help, that favors neuroplasticity.

NeuroMADS is currently searching for new team members, with enthusiasm and ready to academically improve themselves.
