This seminar's edition will hold presentations by Dr. Isabel Awad, Professor of the Communication Department at the Erasmus University Rotterdam; Dr. Jairo Lugo-Ocando, Dean of the Communication College at the University of Sharjah; and Dr. Raquel Paiva, Emeritus Professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

16:00-16:05: Welcome to the seminar, by Professor Javier Díaz-Noci.

 

16:05-16:20: How is poverty coverage represented in academic research? Risks and opportunities from journalism on poverty in Chile. Dr. Isabel Awad (Erasmus University Rotterdam).

 

16:20-16:35: Discourses on poverty and inequality in mainstream journalism in Latin America. Dr. Jairo Lugo-Ocando (University of Sharjah).

 

16:35-16:50: Inequality in access to media and its effect on the construction of the Latin American reality. Dr. Raquel Pavia (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro).

 

16:50-17:30: Open time for debate, moderated by Ignacio Guerrero.
