Based on Garcías own doctoral research, this DigiDoc report is a remarkable reflection on Latin America's native digital journalism. According to this document's abstract:

"the first part of this panel addresses aspects of the historical evolution of native media, their distinctive features and the liminal positions they occupy among media traditional and alternative media, the comparative use of social networks among journalists in Latin America, as well as the types of branding in social networks of native media. Finally, they are presented case studies of Brazilian media, focused in peripheral populations, based on participatory and collaborative work. In the second part, questions and discussions are exchanged about the journalistic perceptions of objectivity, changes in the uses of social media, the treatment of emotions and the participation of audiences. A list of bibliographical references on native digital media is included at the end of this work, with titles provided by the participants".
