The magazine “360upf” publishes its second issue, consolidating the review of the University’s current affairs in an innovative format

Among other things, the new issue includes reports on the relationship between the UPF and Barcelona, ​​UPF’s new bachelor’s degrees, and the results of the University within the Horizon 2020 programme. There are also interviews with the director of UPF Ventures and an alumna and students of the University at the forefront of projects concerning a comic about science and an app to connect students and enterprise.

The second issue of the digital magazine 360upf, published in three languages (Catalan, Spanish and English) biannually, has come out(May 2018). Through its innovative, interactive format, the magazine offers a review of the University’s most important current affairs, with reports, analysis and the opinion of lecturers.

The second issue includes four articles about current affairs, such as the relationship between the UPF campuses and the city of Barcelona and the University’s new bachelor’s degrees; interviews with Alex Casta, director of UPF Ventures, Miriam Rivera, UPF alumna and comic book artist, and Marta Michans and Iris Pallarol, students and creators of the Appasióname project, as well as other regular sections.

The four reports come under three different sections: “Campus and city, a symbiosis in constant transformation”, and “Barcelona, a luxury laboratory for teaching and research”, are part of the “In depth” section, focusing on the relationship between UPF and Barcelona, which is preceded by a written presentation.

The third article is “New bachelor’s degrees for new social needs” (On campus), which analyses the main aims of the new bachelor’s degree programmes implemented in recent years; and finally, “The UPF becomes established in the Champions league of research” (Community), which discusses the results achieved for the period 2014-2017 within the Horizon 2020 programme.

The interviews (three in total) also have a prominent role within the publication. The interviewees are Jaume Guillamet, UPF advisor to campus and city, completing the information of the two reports on UPF and Barcelona; Alex Casta, director of UPF Ventures, a UPF initiative to stimulate relations between the University and enterprise (Profiles); Miriam Riera, a UPF Human Biology graduate, author of comics to disseminate science (Our alumni); and Marta Michans and Iris Pallarol, students at the University, and creators of the Appasióname project (Zoom).

The regular sections complete the contents: Tres60 Photo, which deals with the UPFeina job fair; Kaleidoscope, in which six of the University’s lecturers from different spheres of knowledge analyse an issue from different perspectives, which in this issue is “The blockchain revolution”; the section “Innova”, which includes four videos explaining creative solutions for scientific, technological and cultural challenges, focusing on the projects Sign-Hub, Mneuronic, Heirri and Entomatic, and finally,a look in the essential University news.

With this new issue, UPF consolidates its commitment to multimedia format, which it already embarked on with the first issue, featuring videos, audio files, photo galleries and other interactive items. The content of the magazine is available at the click of a mouse and readers can discover the different sections, which can be converted into independent pieces, as if browsing a paper publication, with graphically separate spaces that stimulate reading.
