Jérôme Noailly elected board member of the European Society of Biomechanics

Coordinator of the Multiscale and Computational Biomechanics and Mechanobiology research group at the DTIC, he was elected on 13 July, during the Annual General Meeting held in Lyon (France), the most important society in Europe for research into and the dissemination of biomechanics.

Jérôme Noailly is the principal investigator of the Multiscale and Computational Biomechanics and Mechanobiology (MBIOMM) research group at the UPF Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DTIC), a group that belongs to BCN-MedTech, a newly created unit at UPF directed by Miguel Ángel González Ballester, ICREA researcher of the DTIC.

Prize for the best doctoral thesis by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2009), Jérôme Noailly studied the mechanics of the lumbar spine with finite element modelling. Then, with an EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant, he began his postdoctoral research at the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) and at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), where he led his first research group in Biomechanics and Mecanobiology. He has been the principal investigator of the project of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union, My Spine. Since 2015, he has been conducting research into biological systems computing at Pompeu Fabra University.

Some of his goals for the future are to promote cooperation among scientific societies in the field of bioengineering, continue to coordinate and promote the Barcelona Virtual Physiology Human (BCNVPH) and, through scientific publications, improve the impact of doctoral research by young doctors and their supervisors.
