The return of physical mobility for the 2021-2022 academic year is undeniable. Last week, UPF welcomed more than 700 international students from around the world: 456 from Europe, 213 from America, 63 from Asia, and 4 from Africa. These numbers are virtually identical to those attending the University before the coronavirus pandemic.

The International Relations Service organized several orientation sessions which took place between 20 and 23 September, with a host of activities to welcome and introduce the international students who have arrived this term to do an academic stay at UPF, to the University’s services. The sessions were launched by Antoni Luna, vice-rector for Internationalization.

In addition to exchange students, this academic year will also serve to resume the face-to-face activities of other international programmes. Such is the case of the Barcelona Program for Interdisciplinary Studies (BaPIS), which is beginning its second edition with the participation of UPF and international students. Among the latter, for the first time, the BaPIS is hosting 26 scholarship students granted Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), a scholarship programme run by the Indonesian Government targeting excellent students in which UPF has been selected in a competitive call as one of the 73 possible destination universities for these students worldwide.
