The agreement reached between the two academic institutions, the first that Oxford has signed with a Spanish university in the area of Law, creates an exchange programme for university Law students, which begins this academic year.

Today's event marked the official inauguration of the exchange programme. Among those attending the reception were the four students who will be enjoying the advantages of the exchange programme during the 2009-2010 academic year.

Two UPF students, Oriol Valentí, a third-year student on the Law degree course, and Cristina Vila, a double long degree student in Business Management and Administration and Law, will have the opportunity to continue their studies at Oxford University. Meanwhile, as part of the exchange programme, Edmond Boulle and Caroline Daly, students from the English university, will continue their studies at the UPF Faculty of Law.

He also said that during the twenty years of its history, the UPF has encouraged mobility among its students, lecturers and researchers.

In his welcoming speech, the dean Josep Ferrer highlighted the fact that almost 15% of students at the UPF travel abroad during their degree course. This is possible because the UPF has established co-operation and exchange agreements in most European countries, from Reykjavik (Iceland) to Istanbul (Turkey) as well as American and Asian universities.

Meanwhile, Ferrer also mentioned that for some years, a significant number of academic lecturers at the UPF have spent time at Oxford University during their academic career, and others plan to do so next year or in the coming years.
