Navigation Design and SEO for Content-Intensive Websites: A Guide for an Efficient Digital Communication was published by Elsevier publishing group in August, co-author of which is Lluís Codina, researcher of the Digital Documentation and Interactive Communication Research Group (DIGIDOC) and professor with the Department of Communication at UPF, together with Mario Pérez-Montoro, professor of Information Sciences at the University of Barcelona. The book, published in English, is available in printed and digital format.

It is a work of academic and professional content that aims to become a reference guide for an efficient digital communication. It presents the main features and guidelines for the analysis and design of efficient systems of navigation and access to information, on intensive content websites, such as academic journals and journalistic content.

The book also seeks to present information processing tools, including the architecture of information and content categorization systems, so that these designs can ensure a good browsing experience based on semantic relationships between content items. The book includes screenshots of Catalan university websites, such as Pompeu Fabra University, as examples of good practice in navigation design.

In addition, Navigation Design and SEO for Content-Intensive Websites includes some examples on best practices in the main structures of the design of systems for access to information such as search query forms and search results pages. Finally, the book describes the basics of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), especially in search engines oriented towards publications that focus on communication and the coverage of current affairs, including images and videos.

Lluís Codina  is a lecturer at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He teaches in the Faculty of Communication, on the bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication. He coordinates the University master’s degree in Social Communication (MUCS) of the Department of Communication . He is a member of the Digital Documentation and Interactive Communication (DigiDoc) research group and coordinates the Research Seminar. Research. He is the author of more than 200 articles in academic and journalistic journals and co-author of Web Semántica y Sistemas de Información Documental (Trea, 2009).
