From the "urban tribes" in Spain in the 1980s to the "transnational bands" of the 2000s, passing "chavos banda" in Mexico and the "Latin bands" of Barcelona, the text provides theoretical clues, paths methodological and ethnographic experiences to rethink contemporary youth cultures. At a time when gang members, especially if they are young and migrant, emerge as the scapegoat for many political and social problems, the anthropological gaze allows us to look at this phenomenon without prejudice and empathy, favoring more inclusive policies capable of make the protagonists of the problem part of the solution.
