Ionut Sorodoc obtains an internship at Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research

09.02.2018

Ionut Sorodoc, a 1st-year PhD student in the AMORE project, has been awarded one of the highly competitive internships at Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR)!

Facebook’s AI research laboratory was created in 2013 to advance the field of machine intelligence, with the ambitious goal to understand and develop systems with human-level intelligence.

In June 2018, Ionut will be joining the New York office of FAIR for a 4-months internship. He will be working in the CommAI project, which aims to develop communicative systems that are able to quickly adapt to a never-ending stream of tasks.

The AMORE project explores the phenomenon of reference in natural language via computational models. It seeks an understanding of how people use language to refer to reality, focusing specifically on the interaction between conceptual knowledge and extralinguistic context.
