TEASPILS multiplier event
20.06.2022
TIDE-UPF organises the following workshop:
TEASPILS multiplier event, July 1-2 2022, as part of the Maker Faire Barcelona
At Poblenou Campus of Universitat Pompeu Fabra
Organizer: Davinia Hernández-Leo, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona
Davinia Hernández-Leo, is Full Professor of Engineering and Information and Communication Technologies, Serra Húnter, ICREA Academia at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF).
AGENDA
July 1st
14:30 - 15.30 (Auditorium) - Welcome
15:30 - 17:00 (Auditorium) Sensors, IoT for STEAM learning and environmental awareness development (with examples of school and institute). (Slides)
Talk and panel discussion by Davinia Hernández-Leo, Ariel Ortiz, Paula Balcells (from UPF), Juan Luis Moreno (from UPM), and Aina Nadal (teacher at C.E. Dolmen). Moderator: Laia Sánchez Casals (responsible for Col·laboratori, Citilab, Cornellà)
17:15 - 19.00 (Room 52.327) Teaspils: Plants and Technology (for educators)
The TEASPILS (Teaching Environmental Awareness with Smart IoT Planters in Learning Spaces) project aims to increase environmental awareness while educating students through plant-based learning activities monitored by IoT smart seeding sensors. The project promotes the objective of building a society with environmental awareness, including plant effects.
In this workshop we will know the Teaspils technology and what activities related to the project have been carried out in primary and secondary school classes, and we will create new ones.
July 2nd
12.15 - 14.00 (Room 52.329) Teaspils: Plants and Technology (for families and boys and girls from 8 to 12 years old).
What do we know about plants? What technologies do we know? How can we connect plants with technology to contribute to environmental conservation?
In this workshop we will focus on the plants around us on our day-to-day, even in urban or inland areas, and we will know the Teaspils technology, which is intended to monitor the environmental conditions of our plants. We’ll design our sensors using paper prototypes, explore the application to understand the best environmental conditions for a plant and reflect on the importance of plants.
