End of 2022 greeting - report
2022 has been a busy year for TIDE members. Several research projects have finished: D-TIPs, School4Inclusion, BLENDI, DE-TEL. And new projects have started: CLOSER, RemixED. Intensive work has also been focused on the projects: CSTrack, Courage, Illumine, H2O Learn, … as well in tech transfer contracts such as Stemarium.
Remarkably, the PhD thesis by Nicolás Gutierrez has been defended. And group members have been very active participating in international conferences and having their research published (representative publications listed below). Outreach has included participation in the Maker Faire (being also co-organized by TIDE), the STEAM conference, Oracle4Girls, Dia de la Ciencia a les Escoles, EDUTEC’22
On the emotional and personal side, it has not been an easy year - still with the COVID-19 pandemics, the war, the inflation… Being TIDE an international community, having families far away has become even more challenging. Fortunately, we have managed to keep a flexible work environment and members collaborating in joint research lines have been sympathetic and supportive. But there have also been happy life events for some members, which we keep private in this report :)

Darío Doña Falcón: “I will remember 2022 as the year I started studying the CSIM masters and working with the TIDE group. I am very glad to have got these opportunities and to learn many new things.”
Emily Theophilou: “I will always remember 2022 as the year we successfully conducted more than 50 workshops with the COURAGE project! I enjoyed working together with fellow researchers and meeting international partners. ”

Khadija El Aadmi “I will always remember 2022 as the year I learned about the importance of renewing one’s knowledge and keeping on challenging oneself. I’ve especially enjoyed helping with the design of workshops and travelling for the sake of new knowledge.”
Ishari Amarasinghe: “I will always remember 2022 as the year in which I was able to share and discuss research ideas with researchers across borders, learn about on-going citizen science research and the year in which I started mentoring doctoral students.”
Mariano Velamazán: “I will always remember 2022 as the year I would never forget again how to answer to reviewers and how to do 2 ANOVA tests and a hypothesis testing in one evening!! Nooo, seriously, it has been the first time I target a top journal and this is something to be remembered :D”
Eyad Hakami: “I will always remember 2022 as the year in which I deposited my PhD thesis. A lot of writing and fruitful collaboration with TIDE members in three submissions by which I conclude my dissertation”.
Valguima Odokaura “It has been an amazing year of work with TIDE. I worked and learned a lot. Visiting TIDE in person was a remarkable experience. ”
Pablo Abenia: “I will always remember 2022 as the year I managed to transform the ILDE research platform into a system that met all official government requirements and certifications so we could successfully finish the STEMarium project.”
Roberto Sánchez: “I will always remember 2022 as the year I learned new things at TIDE. I joined as project manager in new ERASMUS+ projects. I’ve met new people and colleagues from our partner countries. We finished the Courage workshops at schools :D”
Patricia Santos “I will remember 2022 as the year I managed two important projects (D-TIPS, CS Track) that have finished, where the collaboration between TIDE members involved has been fantastic. I am also pleased that my first PhD student (Nicolas Gutierrez) defended his Phd successfully!”
Davinia Hernández-Leo “I will remember 2022 as a year full of emotional tensions. For me it has been emotionally challenging to reflect about the global situation of the world and to help my institution engage in research-driven educational innovation.
