SignON, a project that will bring effective communication between listeners and deaf or hard of hearing people, has received a grant from the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union with a funding of 5.6 million euros for the next 3 years. Horacio Saggion, head of the Large Scale Text Understanding Systems Lab (LaSTUS) of the TALN research group will lead the UPF work on natural language processing. From UPF, Josep Blat head of the Interactive Technologies research group will also bring research on avatar technology for this challenging project. The LaSTUS laboratory will research on natural language understanding, text simplification and text generation for oral and sign language translation.
