Researchers from the University of California Berkeley have arrived to UPF, to start up a collaboration project on the positive  emotion of awe. The principal investigators of this cross-cultural study are  Veronica Benet-Martínez from UPF and  Dacher Keltner   from UC Berkeley. Dacher Keltner is a social-personality psychologist and the founding faculty director of the  Greater Good Science Center. His work is focused on the social function of emotions, power and status behaviors and determinants, and the social practices by which people negotiate norms and morals. The project that we will be conducting at UPF aims to explore individual and cultural differences/similarities in the experience of the emotion of awe, and it includes complex physiological measures (heart rate, respiration, skin conductance, impedance cardiograph, DNA samples).
Part of the Berkeley team and PhD students (Craig L Anderson, Maria Monroy, Yang Bai, Laura Maruskin) will be here until Nov 16 th, and they are located at the RECSM office 24.411.
