Post-doctoral researcher and Associate Lecturer in the Department of Information and Communication Technologies

Dr. Paula Rudenick is currently a post-doctoral researcher and Associate Lecturer in the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. In 2007 she received her Bachelor in Systems Engineering from the Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina, focusing her thesis on the implementation of the Lattice Boltzmann method for fluid simulations. She then extended her technical expertise to the biomedical field, completing her Master in Biomedical Research at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, in 2010. From 2011 until 2014, she pursued a PhD in Medical Studies at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in the Cardiology group at the Institut de Recerca Vall d’Hebron, Barcelona, lead by Drs. David García-Dorado and Arturo Evangelista. She completed her PhD in 2014, with the Excellent Cum Laude mention. Her thesis was focused on the computational and experimental modelling of aortic dissection to help in the understanding of long-term outcome of patients and has received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award as one of the best theses defended during the academic year. Therefore, Dr. Rudenick has a strong background in engineering approaches, including image analysis and computational modelling, in addition to experience in cardiovascular basic and clinical research, having worked in close collaboration with clinicians of University Hospital Vall d’Hebron, University Hospital Clinic and Clínica del Pilar.

Dr. Rudenick’s current research interests include the development of computational and experimental models to study the biomedical and clinical aspects of cardiovascular diseases. Her goal is to advance biomedical engineering techniques in order to improve the basic understanding and treatment of relevant clinical conditions.
