Laurent Durupt will talk about relations between instrumental and electronics as pervading his own artistic practice. In this talk/listening session, he will guide us through two of his works for percussion trio and electronics, "Sonate en triOhm" (2011), and "Spirales" (2017), and a performance with video artist Hicham Berrada ("Presages").

Pianist and composer, resident at the Villa Medicis in 2013-2014, Laurent Durupt produces works covering a wide spectrum of sound creation, from composition with electronics (Sonate en TriΩhm) or exclusively instrumental (Vertical Speed, 2015), sound installation (Minimal Music for Maximum Space, 2015), performance with improvisation (Studi Sulla Notte, 2013), musical theater (La Nuit Acoustique, 2015), musics for film (LA Tentation de la Forteresse, 2016) or for theater (La Fille du Collectionneur, 2017). His interests are very large, inspired many times by reality (nuclear issues, immigration) but also by more abstract thoughts, scientific experiences or philisophical concepts (spirales, acoustic phenomenons, heterotopies, etc…).  Music itself is sometimes his interest, as the musical elements constitutive of Hip-Hop or aegyptian improvisation music. He founded with his brother the Links duo (Piano/percussion) and Links Ensemble with who he’s really involved in the french scene of contemporary music.
