Senior researcher position at the Music Technology Group

The Music Technology Group of the Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain, invites applications for a senior researcher position. The selected candidate will lead research projects, supervise the work of PhD students and other researchers, and, in general, contribute to the overall activities and goals of the MTG.

The candidate should hold a PhD, have a strong background in music technology research and have experience in technology transfer activities. Teaching and research supervision experience will be highly considered. Alignment with the values and guiding principles of the MTG (https://www.upf.edu/web/mtg/values) is a must.

The gross annual base salary will be 40.039€. Complements for teaching are possible. The incorporation date is flexible.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a PhD in computer science or a closely related field and have a strong background in audio signal processing and machine learning applied to sound and music applications.

The candidate must demonstrate:

  • A solid research track record and experience in research supervision and teaching. 

  • Ability to attract external funding and the potential to secure partnerships with the private sector. Experience in leading research projects with social and economic impact.

  • Experience in the dissemination and transfer of knowledge to other institutions, companies and the public sector.

Context 

The Music Technology Group (MTG) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, part of its Department of Information and Communication Technologies, carries out research on topics such as audio signal processing, music information retrieval, musical interfaces, and computational musicology. The MTG wants to contribute to the improvement of the information and communication technologies related to sound and music, carrying out competitive research at the international level and at the same time transferring its results to society. To that goal, and guided by our values, the MTG aims at finding a balance between basic and applied research while promoting interdisciplinary approaches that incorporate knowledge and methodologies from both scientific/technological and humanistic/artistic disciplines.
