PhD fellowships in music technology at the Pompeu Fabra University

The Music Technology Group (MTG) of the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona is offering 4 Ph.D. fellowships to start in September 2007 to work in the areas of:

  • Music Information Retrieval
  • Content-based Voice Transformation and Characterization
  • Polyphonic Audio Description
  • Computational Models of Music Cognition

The Music Technology Group specializes in audio processing technologies and their music and multimedia applications. Specific areas of interest of the group are: audio processing and synthesis, music information retrieval, singing voice processing, and interactive systems.

The candidates will have to apply and be accepted in the PhD in Sound and Music Computing of the Department of Technology.The PhD is devoted to carry out a PhD thesis and depending on his/her academic background a candidate may be asked to enroll in the Master in Information, Communication and Audiovisual Media before being accepted to carry out the PhD Thesis. Also the Graduate Studies Committee of the Department or the PhD supervisor may ask a student to take specific Master courses, to complement education.

The candidates should have experience in Audio Signal Processing and have worked in the field of Music Technology.
