On Tuesday, October 2, the “Open Days” will start with a conference on pioneer women of visual music, such as Margaret Watts Hughes or Mary Hallock-Greenewalt, who are ignored in many histories of sound art and visual music. The talk will be given by _blank (Blanca Rego), a digital artist obsessed with the relationship between image and sound. That same afternoon, Sala Aranyó (UPF) will host the first concert of the Days, where the Irish Barbara Ellison will present her series of songs CyberSongs, A trans-human song cycle, in which she works on ghostly presences and acoustic illusions through repetitions that invite us to enter into trance states. It will be preceded by a session of analog Noise + Ambient by the French artist Alpha Decay.

On Wednesday 3rd, Barbara Ellison will present her ideas about sonic ghosts - a topic that has given her a doctorate from the University of Huddersfield - in the talk she will offer. After the talk, a selection of pieces of women from the Phonos archive will be presented in a multichannel audio environment. Phonos count with one of the largest electronic music archives in the country.

On Thursday 4th the activity will be held in the neighbor art center Hangar. The special guest of the evening is Shelly Knotts, who will offer us a double menu, with a talk and a concert. Shelly is a pioneer of worldwide recognition in the practice of live-coding (live sound programming), which she uses both for aesthetic and ideological purposes, to put "feminism as a scenic action" at the center of her activity. The afternoon will be completed with an improvised music session with local artists Lina Bautista, Ceci Durán and Lali Barrière, as well as with the synesthetic performance Transitory Presences # 2, by Yolanda Uriz, who works mixing the senses of smell, vision and the ear in a performance in which we see what we smell and smell what we hear.

The last day of the Open Days returns to Sala Aranyó with a talk on relations between mathematics and experimental art, by the teacher and audiovisual artist Lali Barrière, to end the week in the nearby espai NIU (C / Almogàvers 208), with a double agenda: the Berliner Schloss Mirabell will delight us with its sounds of intimate nature and Nordic influence, while the Polish sound artist Martyna Poznańska, will be in charge of making us connect with the urban environment through listening.
