The MTG is looking to hire a researcher/developer to start as soon as possible.

This position will involve working at MTG-UPF in Barcelona to develop signal processing and machine learning algorithms for automatic music performance rating and developing web back-end technologies for the TECSOME project.

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent,  with 2+ years of practical experience
  • Experience in design and development of music audio signal analysis, processing, and classification algorithms
  • Some experience with project management
  • Proficiency in software development using Python, and Git
  • Experience with python web back-end frameworks such as Django
  • Experience in Linux, including scripting
  • Knowledge of music theory basics
  • Ability to work and deliver autonomously while being a part of a team

Preferred skills/experience:

  • Master degree in Sound and Music Computing, Music Technology or related field
  • Experience developing audio signal processing algorithms in an industrial context
  • Experience on Docker
  • Experience using Essentia or similar audio analysis software
  • Being passionate about writing clean code

ABOUT MTG-UPF: The Music Technology Group (MTG) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, part of its Department of Information and Communication Technologies, carries out research on topics such as audio signal processing, music information retrieval, musical interfaces, and computational musicology. The MTG wants to contribute to the improvement of the information and communication technologies related to sound and music, carrying out competitive research at the international level and at the same time transferring its results to society. To that goal, the MTG aims at finding a balance between basic and applied research while promoting interdisciplinary approaches that incorporate knowledge and methodologies from both scientific/technological and humanistic/artistic disciplines.
