Starting January 2025, the Master in Sound and Music Computing at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) will welcome a new adjunct professor, Valerio Velardo, who will teach topics related to generative AI music and computational creativity.

Valerio is a renowned AI music engineer and entrepreneur. He consults for music technology companies and connects them with AI music talent through his online community, The Sound of AI. As the creator of The Sound of AI YouTube channel, Valerio has shared his expertise with hundreds of thousands of learners.

Previously, he founded and led the generative music company Melodive and served as MLOps Lead at Utopia Music. Valerio holds a PhD in AI music and brings a unique interdisciplinary background as a musician, programmer, and scientist. Currently, he is writing AI Music Revolution, a book for the University of California Press.

Valerio has already been collaborating with the Music Technology Group (MTG) through the Generative Music AI Workshop, and we are excited to expand his involvement with the Master’s program. We are confident that his expertise and passion for AI music will significantly enrich the program.
