Two Industrial PhD positions at the MTG

The MTG opens two industrial PhD positions to do research on machine learning for sound and music applications

Starting date: September 2020

These PhD positions are a collaboration of the MTG with the research center of a leading telecom solutions provider based in Munich, Germany. The successful applicant will be part of a multicultural team of audio researchers within a growing environment. He/she will be offered a fulltime employment contract and is expected to work from Munich. Regular visits to MTG will be supported.

Possible topics of the research to be carried out are: 

  • Music/sound tagging
  • Audio representations for music recommendation systems
  • Music source separation for enhanced audio description
  • Audio generation for sound and music applications

Requirements:

  • You have recently completed or will soon complete your master studies
  • You gained first experience in machine learning and signal processing applied to audio
  • You have a solid background in programming in python, Matlab or C/C++
  • You enjoy working in a team and you like to collaborate with researchers to develop creative solutions
  • You are fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • You must be eligible to work in the European Union to be considered for this position
