The Japan Foundation, Naves Matadero and l'Auditori of Barcelona, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Spain and Japan, organize the premiere in Spain of the Vocaloid Opera "The End", a multimedia show with the performance of Hatsune Miku together with Keiichiro Shibuya, one of the most innovative and original Japanese musicians. This is the first opportunity to see live j-pop singer, which has become famous worldwide and uses Vocaloid technology, a software developed by the Music Technology Group in collaboration with the Japanese company Yamaha.

Vocaloid is a singing voice synthesis software developed as part of our research in Voice and Audio Processing. The commercialization of the Vocaloid Spanish voices is done by Voctrolabs, a spin-off of the MTG, which has other virtual singers similar to Hatsune Miku, such as Bruno, Clara and Maika. Currently our MIR Lab is working on new and innovative methods of voice synthesis based on neuronal networks and deep learning that may have a big impact on the singing voice synthesis.
