We are surrounded by technological innovations and services that contribute to our economic, cultural and social well-being, and are the result of ideas developed in the field of research. With the collection RecerCòmics, the Secretaria d’Universitats i Recerca de la Generalitat de Catalunya aims to present some examples spin-offs or tech transfer initiatives from the universities. The collection is published in Catalan and English.

 “In Search of Reactable” is the first issue of this new collection that explains the creation of this electronic instrument created at the MTG and commercialized by the spin-off Reactable Systems S.L.

On February 25th 2009 Reactable Systems was created as an spin-off of the UPF leaded by the researchers Sergi Jordà, Günter Geiger, Martin Kaltenbrunner, Marcos Alonso and Xavier Serra, they all members of the MTG.

The first product that the company commercialized was the Reactable, an innovative musical instrument that achived a significant impact. The Reactable is the only instrument in the world that allows, according to its creators, "visualize music with your eyes" and, at the same time, "grab it and manipulate it with your hands."

The comic has been written by the journalist and writer Sebastià Roig and illustrated by Riccardo Micoli.  “In Search of Reactable” follows some biographical facts of the main protagonist, Sergi Jordà, including when he met Xavier Serra in Canada.
