On Tuesday 15 February 2022, Annamaria Pisapia, head of Compassion in World Farming in Italy, gave the talk "Fighting on for 'farm' animals" to the Critical Animal and Media Studies course. In her presentation, Ms Pisapia shared her personal story and introduced the students to some of the most important campaigns by its organization, including the “End the Cage Age” campaign, thanks to which the European Parliament passed a ground-breaking resolution on June 2021, urging the European Commission to phase out cruel cage systems in animal farming.

Compassion in World Farming is a registered charity in England and Wales focuses on campaigning to end all factory farming practices. Founded in 1967 by a British farmer, CIWF is one of the most influential animal defence NGOs in Europe.
