Roser Garí, Delegate for Asia for the Great Ape Project, gave a speech on “Pandemics, zoonoses and nonhuman animals” to the Critical Animal and Media Studies students on Tuesday February 9, 2021.

The lecturer provided a historical account of zoonotic pandemics or epidemics (the spread of infectious diseases from other animals, both in nature and in farms, to humans and vice versa) and discussed the many ways in which the wildlife trade as well as the consumption habits of humans (in Eastern and Western countries) contribute to the creation of new virus like the Covid-19.
