Lisa Kemmerer was guest speaker of our programme on 19th January 2021. A graduate of Reed College, Harvard University and Glasgow University, Professor Kemmerer is a philosopher-activist working on behalf of nonhuman animals, the environment, and disempowered human beings.
Professor Kemmerer gave a videoconference talk and seminar on ethics, religions and nonhuman animals to the students of the Critical Animal and Media Studies course – a topic she has developed in different publications, including Search of Consistency: Ethics and Animals (Brill, 2006), Animals and World Religions (Oxford University Press, 2011) and, as editor with Anthony Nocella, in Call to compassion. Religious perspectives on animal advocacy (Lantern Books, 2011).
