Prizes awarded to the 2018-2019 master students

It gives us great pleasure to inform of the three UPF Prizes awarded to 2018-2019 final projects authored by students of the MA in International Studies in Media, Power and Difference.

Best Final Master Project on Gender Studies:

·      Vítor Blanco has been awarded First Prize ex aequo for his project “La pantalla, el cuerpo, la herida. Hacia una política de representación somato-afectiva de la vulnerabilidad queer” (The screen, the body, the wound. Towards a policy of somato-affective representation of queer vulnerability), supervised by Dra. Pilar Medina.

Best Final Master Projects on Planetary Wellbeing:

·       Lena von Zabern has been awarded First Prize for her project "Rebel with a cause. The Framing of Climate Change and Intergenerational Justice in the German press treatment of the Fridays for Future protests", supervised by Dr. Christopher D. Tulloch.

·       Sarah Backer has been awarded Second Prize for her project "Corporate Sustainability or Greenwashing’? A critical discourse analysis of the Sustainable Development Goals in Carlsberg’s strategic communication”, supervised by Dra. Núria Almiron.

Both First Prizes include a reward of 1,000 euros for the students while the Second Prize includes a 500 euros reward. All of them reflect the high level of research conducted by our students in the program.

The Gender Studies Prize has been awarded for the first time this year to final master projects while a new call has been opened for 2021, when students from courses 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 will be able to apply (more information here). The Planetary Wellbeing Prize is the update of the previous Prize on Sustainability and it is expected to be called again in the future (more information will be posted here and here). In both Prizes, works in English, Catalan and Spanish are welcomed.

Our most sincere congratulations to the three students and supervisors.
