MPD course instructor Marta Narberhaus Martínez was recently awarded the first prize of the 29th edition of the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia (CAC) Awards for her research in audiovisual communication. Marta’s work - “Children’s news: Topics, information quality and audience reception around Newsround, Logo and InfoK” - analyzed news for children from three TV producers (ZDF, BBC and Televisió de Catalunya), concluding that the three programs stand out for their quality, stimulating the interest of children, promoting positive values and contributing to audiovisual literacy for boys and girls. Specifically, the programs prioritize social issues, particularly within the children’s agenda.

The work comprised Marta’s doctoral thesis, which she defended at UPF in December 2016. Her background in these lines of enquiry supports her instruction on the MPD course in the Children and Youth in the Media subject. In addition to recognizing her excellence in the field of audiovisual communication research, the CAC award has rewarded her efforts with a 5000 euro prize. Congratulations, Marta!
