KOLUMBA, prototype web-based e-mail client for people with disabilities, awarded at Web for All congress
KOLUMBA, a prototype web-based e-mail client for people with intelectual disabilities developed in the context of the Able to Include project, awarded the Best Communication Award at W4A conference (2-4 April, Perth, Australia)
The European Project Able to Include had the misión to create open source technology for people with intellectual disabilities, in order to improve their life. One of the achievements is their integration in working environments thanks to the use of web-based technologies for easier accessibility.
One of the results in KOLUMBA, a prototype web-based e-mail client that includes text simplification tools and assistive technologies such as pictograms or voice messaging, build from a user design perspective.

that has obtained the best communication award at the Web for All conference (W4A, April 2-4 Perth, Australia). This article describes the joint work with members of Fundación Prodis in Madrid and the Center for Computational Linguistic at KU Leuven (Belgium).
