The Wisibilízalas contest for schools, special distinction at equit@t awards

Wisibilízalas, the contest launched to students (boys and girls) in Spain to work on spanish female profiles currently working on he digital economy, has received the special distinction from the COEINF (the professional association of Computer Science Engineers)  the equit@t contest, organised by the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) to recognise the best initiatives in Spain, Portugal and Latin America that seek to increase the visibility of women in technology.

Wisibilízalas, the contest launched to students (boys and girls) in Spain to work on spanish female profiles currently working on he digital economy, has received the special distinction from the COEINF (the professional association of Computer Science Engineers)  the equit@t contest, organised by the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) to recognise the best initiatives in Spain, Portugal and Latin America that seek to increase the visibility of women in technology.

The distinction was received by Ana Freire, visiting professor at our department, and Aurelio Ruiz, technical coordinator of the María de Maeztu Strategic Research Program and responsible for its gender & ICT program, co-leaders of this contest.

The 2017 edition of the Wisibilízalas contest is being prepared. People interested in being informed about this launch can leave their contact details here.

Organizations interested in sponsoring the execution of the project are especially welcome. For the 2017 edition NAE consulting and Google have already confirmed their support.

The equit@t award to the best initiative was for "Científicas" from Universidad de Sevilla, Computer Science School.
