Resum. Most of the studies on Information Structure (IS) in sign languages have been made from a syntactic perspective assuming that there is not a category for contrast (Kimmelman, 2014, among others). However, this categorization does not account for the fact that in Catalan Sign Language (LSC) focus and topic display the same marking in order to express contrast. In this talk I describe the different syntactic and prosodic manual and non-manual markers involved in the expression of topic, focus, and contrast in LSC. Given that in LSC the same markers of contrast are found in both contrastive topic and contrastive focus, we follow Vallduví & Vilkuna (1998) and analyse contrast as a different dimension in IS, which may overlap with other IS notions. Moreover, following Umbach (2004) and Repp (2016), we provide an analysis of contrast types based on the correlation of different combinations of prosodic non-manual markers and the pragmatic interpretations they are associated with. We suggest that there are at least three different types of contrast: parallelselective and corrective, each of which correlates with a different degree of contrastiveness.
