Clua Losada, Mònica

I am a tenure-track lecturer in public and social policy at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. I completed my PhD at the University of York (GB) in 2010 entitled Solidarity, Global Restructuring and Political Deregulation: The Liverpool Dockers' Dispute 1995-98. I finished my BA Hons. in Politics with Educational Studies (2004) and my Master of Arts in Political Research (2006) also at the University of York. Prior to that, I completed a vaig completar el Certificate in Higher Education in Politics at Ruskin College, Oxford (2001).

My research focuses on analysing the critical political economy of crisis dynamics, particularly in relation to subaltern groups in society and their ability to disrupt and resist the political, economic and social manifestations of capitalist accumulation.

I am the vice-chair of the Critical Political Economy Research Network of the European Sociological Association.

I am also a fellow of the British Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Since 2011, I have been the academic convenor of the BA in Criminology and Public Policy of Prevention.

Economic and Social Research Council (UK) "Research seminars competition 2013-2014" Project Title: "Understanding the post-crisis landscape: assessing change in economic management, welfare, work and democracy", code: ES/M002209/1. Principal Investigator: Dr Paul Lewis (University of Birmingham). Co-investigators: Dr Mònica Clua-Losada, Dr David Bailey, Professor Jason Heyes, Dr Anastasia Nesvetailova, Professor Magnus Ryner. Amount: 29937 pounds.

"Santander Research Mobility Award". Joint award with Dr Owen Parker, University of Sheffield. Amount: 1250 euros.

"Inequality and youth political participation in Catalonia. A quantitative and qualitative approach in a context of crisis." 1 year research project. Principal investigator: Mònica Clua-Losada. Funded by the Youth Agency of the Catalan Government, code: AJOVE12, Amount: 12500 euros.

"Social exclusion and children in Spain during the crisis". 1 year research project. Principal Investigator: Professor Vicenç Navarro. Funded by the Obra Social La Caixa. Amount: 50000 euros.
