Marisa Iglesias Vila is Associate Professor of Legal Philosophy at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona. She has been a visiting scholar or researcher at the European Humanities University of Minsk, Oxford University, the Global Law School of New York University, the Law Faculty of Puerto Rico University, the ITAM (México) and the UAO (Colombia). She has worked several times as expert-evaluator for the European Commission, and has briefly practiced law as substitute judge. She is also a current member of the Executive Committee of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR), and coordinator of the Law PHD program at Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Her main publications in English include: “Subsidiarity, Margin of Appreciation and International Adjudication within a Cooperative Conception of Human Rights”, International Journal of Constitutional Law (2017); “The Conundrum of Pluralism and the Doctrine of the Margin of Appreciation: the Crucifix ‘Affair’ and the Ambivalence of the ECtHR” (with C. Current research interests: the philosophy of human rights; legitimacy issues and principles in international human rights adjudication; freedom of religion; multiculturalism and gender equality.
