The Project aims to offer a plausible explanation of the idea of global public reason in the following three dimensions:

1. General theory of law: on the one hand, an exploration of the consequences of the idea of public reason for our vision of the ontological foundations of the notion of collective action and how legal content is based on other more basic facts; and, on the other hand, an analysis of judicial reasoning as a crucial voice in the forum of public reason, an analysis expanded to accommodate a strong notion of judicial dialogue, a dialogue between national and international courts.

2. The theory of legitimacy and human rights: Since respect and honor for human rights is part of the foundation of the legitimacy of our institutions, the project studies how this foundation is intertwined with the idea of public reason to achieve a clear awareness of the design of our institutions and a powerful instrument to detect and evaluate the necessary changes in policy, mainly in the international arena.

3. The theory of intergenerational justice. The challenges facing humanity, population growth, climate change, extreme poverty, etc., require a development of our idea of justice, capable of determining and evaluating the appropriate ends. In this sense, we need specialized knowledge of the natural and social sciences, but also and urgently a global forum of public reason where to discuss and debate all relevant points of view and where we can build a network of shared objectives.
