MARCIEL PARIENTE, RUBÉN

I am an Irla Postdoctoral Fellow in the Law & Philosophy research group at Pompeu Fabra University, where I conduct a research project on media and republicanism.

I have worked as Adjunct Professor of Philosophy in the Philosophy Department at the University of Barcelona, teaching courses on political philosophy and human rights. Previously, I obtained my BA in Philosophy from the University of Valladolid, my MSc in Education (specializing in Philosophy) from UNED, and both my MA in Political Philosophy and my PhD in Law from Pompeu Fabra University. I have also been a visiting predoctoral researcher at the Normative Orders research group, Goethe University Frankfurt.

My research focuses on democratic theory, journalism ethics, freedom of speech, and media regulation. I am especially interested in finding ways to improve our media ecosystems and solutions to counteract disinformation.
