"I am honored to be elected for the Europaeum's leadership program. The Europaeum considers itself a university without borders and comprises a network of 18 leading European universities. In the program, I will learn for two years, with over 30 other PhD students from these universities, a lot about leadership and public policy”, said Gina. The program focuses on current European policy and encourages students to engage in critical and groundbreaking thinking about the most significant issues and policymaking in Europe.

According to the program, the Europaeum has structured its activities around the following themes: European History & Culture, European Policy-Making, and European Liberal Democracy & Citizen Engagement in recent years. "The training consists of 8 seminars during the two years, each in a different European city and each with a different topic focus. Besides great and highly relevant thematic input, talks and speeches by leading experts and politicians, we will have very vivid and multidisciplinary discussions", Gina commented.

However, for Gina, one of the most important aspects of this training is that the students develop, within two years, a policy proposal on a highly relevant current topic, which they will present in the end to leading politicians and stakeholders. Moreover, one of the added values of this program is the opportunity to learn with a multidisciplinary approach and share experiences with a wide variety of professional profiles such as lawyers, historians, sociologists, philosophers, economists, and linguists, among others.

From her experience, Gina hopes to contribute to some of the most relevant issues in European society. Gina Haubner is currently a PhD candidate at the JHU-UPF Public Policy Center, based at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and investigates the Role of Civil Society in the Ecological Transformation. She has also worked in project management for sustainability projects and has eight years' experience in journalism.
