Digital games, those purely virtual, tend to limit the physical interaction of children. In the educational environment, this is translated into the fact that new programs and applications in 100% digital formats are not compatible with learning methods, such as the Montessori method, where body use and physical interaction combined have been proven to be essential for children's learning. This is one of the biggest reasons why many actors of the school environment are skeptical about the inclusion of new technologies in the classroom.

In the area of knowledge of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), tangible interfaces are those that precisely allow users a physical interaction with the system in a substantial and significant way. In recent years our research group has been developing this type of interactive systems in order to incorporate new tangible and mixed reality technologies for learning mathematics, both in sighted and blind children [1,2,3].

We are currently working on Miregamis, a mixed reality system to increase interaction with collectible toys. In Miregamis, the interaction occurs in both directions, that is, the users interact with physical objects and these actions have an impact on a virtual world represented on a computer or tablet, and vice versa, the actions performed on the computer or tablet are reflected in physical objects.

We are currently developing the first hardware prototype. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union, within the framework of the ERDF Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020 and is supported by the Secretariat of Universities and Research of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
