A book chapter on Online Embodied Conversational Agents published
New publication on animated characters, stemming, mainly, from the KRISTINA project
The chapter Web-Based Embodied Conversational Agents and Older People co-authored by Gerard Llorach, Javi Agenjo, Josep Blat and Sergio Sayago, who are current or past GTI members, has just been published within the book Perspectives on Human-Computer Interaction Research with Older People, edited by Sergio Sayago, Universitat de Barcelona.
The publication discusses our ongoing research on building online Embodied Conversational Agents (ECAs), specifically, their interactive 3D web graphics aspects. The ECAs topic has become especially relevant within the important turn to embodied and voice-based interaction in Human-Computer Interaction, as illustrated by the increasing popularity of devices such as Alexa, or Siri. The chapter acknowledges the contribution coming from different projects, KRISTINA, EU H2020 coordinated by Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the European Training Network ENRICH, and the Canadian supported network A-C-T (Ageing-Communication-Technologies).
