Ricard Zapata-Barrero will participate in the virtual roundtable on June 2nd entitled “The Role of Intellectual Efforts Against Extremism and Terrorism” organized by the European Governmental Center for Strategic Communication (EGCSC EU) under the framework of the European Assembly Against Extremism and Terrorism. More info.

Iván Martín was quoted in an article published by El Diario de Sevilla Newspaper on the increase of irregular migration of Algerians to Spain: "Los argelinos superan a los marroquíes y lideran la inmigración irregular en el sur de España." More info.

Ricard Zapata-Barrero gave a webinar on May 22nd on "Mediterranean migration cities" organized by the University of Catania as part of its M.A. Degree in Global Politics and Euro-Mediterranean Relations (GLOPEM). More info.

Gemma Pinyol-Jiménez was quoted in the article "Las llegadas irregulares a la Unión Europea se desploman por el coronavirus. Apenas 900 personas arribaron en abril, el mínimo histórico de la serie de Frontex" published by El País Newspaper. More info.

The introduction of the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies 46 (10) Special Issue on: "Diaspora governance and transnational entrepreneurship: The rise of an emerging global social pattern in migration studies", edited by Ricard Zapata-Barrero and Shahamak Rezaei is now available in printed version and is open access. More info.

 

EuroMedMig Update:

The recorded Debate between Guia Gilardoni (ReSOMA, Milan, Italy) and Iván Martín (Associated EuroMedMig Member, GRITIM-UPF, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain), moderated by Luisa Faustini Torres (GRITIM-UPF, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain), which took place on May 21st 2020, is now available: “Debate on the Research-Policy Nexus and the Interaction between Politicians and Researchers in Mediterranean Migration Issues.”

This Debate was co-organized by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and GRITIM-UPF, in the framework of the IEMed Series of lectures Aula Mediterrània 2019-2020. This Seminar is also part of EuroMedMig´s activities within a three-year (2019-2022) Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Network Program (Ref. 611260-EPP-1-2019-1-ES-EPPJMO-NETWORK) entitled “Mapping European Mediterranean Migration Studies” (Acronym: #EUMedMi).
