We welcome once again Hélène Thiollet as Sabbatical Researcher at GRITIM-UPF!

Hélène Thiollet is a CNRS researcher at Sciences Po - CERI Centre for International Research. She works on the politics of migration and asylum in the Global South, and focuses her empirical research on the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. She teaches international relations, comparative politics and migration studies at Sciences Po. 

Hélène is leading the Sciences Po team for the H2020 project MigrAtion Governance and asYlum Crises MAGYC (project number 822806) financed by the European Union (2018-2022). She is also Principal Investigator for the research project the Politics of Asylum Crises in Europe (PACE) financed by the French National Agency for Research (ANR) which will be launched in June 2019 and last 4 years. From  2012 to 2015, she coordinated the French National Agency for Research project “the Global Mobility and Migration Governance” (MOBGLOB) with Catherine Wihtol de Wenden. 

She is a graduate from the Ecole normale supérieure (Ulm A/L98), holds a PhD in Political Science from Sciences Po and Master degrees in Geography and Classics from La Sorbonne university. In 2002-2003 she was a Visiting Student at the Harvard University, Department of Government. She was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Oxford University in 2009-2010 at the DPIR and International Migration Institute at Oxford

During her visit at GRITIM, Hélène will work on Mediterranean migration governance and on a manuscript describing the socio-historical processes of migration, asylum and State building in the Eritrean diaspora since the 1960s. She will stay at GRITIM-UPF from January 15 until June 1st 2019.
