11.12.2018

Within the framework of the European Council which took place last June, three French researchers, Virginie Guiraudon and Hélène Thiollet both from CNRS/Sciences Po, along with Camille Schmoll from Paris 7/Institut Universitaire de France, created a Panel of International Experts on Migration  (or GIEM in French), following the experience of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Ricard Zapata-Barrero was among the high-level European scholars who joined the Network and participated in the meeting which took place at Collège de France on December 10th 2018, to discuss the missing link between social science research and the migration policies in place. Other renowned members of this new Network are François Héran, Director of the Institut Convergences Migrations and Professor at the Collège de France which hosted this meeting; Andrew Geddes, Director of Migration Policy Center in Italy; Peter Scholten, Director of IMISCOE and Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands; Steven Vertovec, Director of the Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Germany, among others. More info.
