GRITIM-UPF Calls:

Call for papers: The IMISCOE Research Cluster on Qualitative and Conceptual Research invites contributions for a one-day seminar on “The Practice of Qualitative Research in Migration Studies: Ethical Issues as a Methodological Challenge”. The seminar will take place at GRITIM-UPF in Barcelona on January 25, 2019. The contributions will be considered for a special issue to be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. Deadline for sending your abstracts and bios is November 9th, 2018. Please send your application to Evren Yalaz ([email protected]), cc to [email protected] and [email protected] and use the following e-mail title: CfP: Ethical Issues as a Methodological Challenge.

Reinhard Schweitzer successfully defended his Doctoral thesis: The Micro-management of Migrant Irregularity and its Control: a Qualitative Study of the Intersection of Public Service Provision with Immigration Enforcement in London and Barcelona. More info.

Lorenzo Gabrielli was interviewed in the Playground Magazine about the Italian situation towards immigration and xenophobia. Read the interview here.

The 15th Annual Conference of IMISCOE was hosted by GRITIM-UPF from the 2nd until the 4th of July, 2018. The conference covered the theme Europe, migrations and the Mediterranean: human mobilities and intercultural challenges. More info.

Ricard Zapata-Barrero presented a seminar titled as “Intercultural Citizenship in the Diversity Debate Today” at Deakin University in Melbourne on July 30th, 2018. You can watch the whole seminar here.

In the occasion of the IMISCOE Annual Conference which was held in Barcelona between the 2nd and 4th of July 2018, GRITIM-UPF donated 18 books to UPF Library at Ciutadella Campus, making them available for public use. More info.

GRITIM-UPF welcomes the students to the 10th edition of Master in Migration Studies at the first tutorial session of the semester. More info.
