These words, spoken by Desmond Tutu, the first person ever to be awarded an honorary doctorate by UPF, are more applicable today than ever. The UPF condemns, and will always condemn, the use of violence to settle disputes. At UPF, we advocate approaching political or territorial conflicts based on dialogue and respect for all peoples and minorities.
As a university, we also want to show our support to the academic community in countries at war. Universities and scientific institutions are more necessary than ever in these regions. Access to education and the promotion of critical thinking, in the context of strong independent institutions, are the way to ensure the informed debate and reflection that can open the door to new avenues for finding solutions.
At UPF, we are aware of the university community’s concern for the human rights violations we are seeing in the conflicts around us. That is why on this website you will find information about campaigns and actions related to current conflicts, as well as opinion pieces and institutional statements. Vine a conèixer la docència i la recerca que fem al Campus del Mar!
El dissabte 27 d’abril el Campus Universitari Mar convida tothom a conèixer la seva activitat docent durant la seva jornada de portes obertes.
El proper dissabte 27 d’abril el Campus Universitari Mar obre les seves portes i convida tothom a conèixer la seva activitat docent. Al llarg del matí, professionals i estudiants organitzaran tallers relacionats amb els graus en Biologia Humana, Enginyeria Biomèdica, Bioinformàtica, Medicina, Fisioteràpia i Infermeria. Grans i petits podran visitar els laboratoris i les aules i conèixer, a través de jocs i activitats, com es formen els futurs professionals de la salut i les ciències de la vida.
Veure les tècniques per crear la imatge d’un genoll en 3D, participar en un Escape Room o conèixer un cas clínic mitjançant l’aula de simulació són alguns dels tallers que hi tindran lloc. També podràs fer una simulació experimental del flux de la sang, observar teixits al microscopi o aprendre a rescatar una aturada cardíaca. A més, professors del campus oferiran tres xerrades científiques sobre la humanització de la medicina, tecnologia bioinspirada i neurociències.
Un projecte interuniversitari
El Campus Universitari Mar allotja la Unitat Docent del Parc Salut Mar de la Facultat de Medicina de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), la Facultat de Ciències de la Salut i de la Vida de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra, i l’Escola Superior d’Infermeria del Mar vinculada a l’Hospital del Mar (ESIMar-PSMAR).
Aquest edifici, situat al carrer del Dr. Aiguader, forma part d’un projecte pioner de col·laboració interuniversitària en el qual s’imparteixen cinc graus: Biologia Humana (UPF), Enginyeria Biomèdica (UPF), Bioinformàtica (ESCI-UPF), Medicina (UPF-UAB), Fisioteràpia (UAB) i Infermeria (ESIMar); a més dels múltiples estudis de postgrau que s’ofereixen.
La vinculació directa amb l’Hospital del Mar i amb els centres de recerca ubicats a l’adjacent Parc de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (PRBB), converteixen el Campus Universitari Mar en un clúster de coneixement en el que l’estudiant té accés a les pràctiques assistencials i de recerca més avançades.

The Red Cross also provides emergency humanitarian aid in regions in crisis.
Legal Clinic
The UPF Legal Clinic regularly holds talks and roundtables on the protection of human rights in crisis regions.
Libraries Without Borders
The Libraries Without Borders programme, sponsored by the Catalan Development Cooperation Agency (ACCD), offers Catalan public library patrons knowledge and insight into situations of human rights violations and provides resources to take action.
Council for At-Risk Academics
The Council for At-Risk Academics, in partnership with universities and higher education institutions, provides urgently-needed help to academics in immediate danger, those forced into exile, and many who choose to work on in their home countries despite serious risks.
