Serena Olsaretti has been an ICREA Research Professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra since 2010. She has written on various topics in distributive justice, including libertarianism, desert, well-being and egalitarianism. Her interest in questions surrounding justice and the family has emerged in the context of considering the implications of certain responsibility-based egalitarian views, which seem to tell against the socialisation of the costs of children. Her publications on these issues to date include: “Choice, Circumstance and the Cost of Children” (in I. Carter, Matthew Kramer, Steve de Wijze (eds.), Hillel Steiner and the Anatomy of Justice; Routledge, 2009); “Children as Public Goods?” (Philosophy & Public Affairs 41, 3 (2013), pp. 226-258), “Equality, Autonomy and the Price of Parenting” (with P. Bou-Habib, The Journal of Social Philosophy 44, 4 (2013), pp. 420-438), and “Autonomy and Children’s Well-Being” (with P. Bou-Habib, in A. Bagattini and C. Macleod (eds.), The Nature of Children’s Well-Being. Theory and Practice, Dordrecht: Springer, 2015).
