Manuel Valente is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the Université Catholique de Louvain, where he is a member of the Chaire Hoover of Economic and Social Ethics and of the Superior Institute of Philosophy. Before he moved to Belgium, he studied Economics at Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics (PT, 2016) and Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Leiden University (NL, 2018). As a member of the ARC project on pension reform at UCLouvain (“SAS Pensions”), Manuel works on egalitarian justice in old-age pensions. He is particularly interested in theories of distributive Justice, egalitarianism, intergenerational justice and taxation. While at UPF, his focus is on gender inequality in old-age pensions.
