Nicolás Brando studied Humanities (with a mayor in Philosophy) at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and at the City University of Hong Kong. He obtained his degree (2013) with a thesis on the cognitive and educational approaches required to teach philosophy to the new young generations. He then entered the MA program in Political Philosophy, also at the Pompeu Fabra University, writing his thesis on the global distribution of educational opportunities. He has done research in the field of global justice and natural resources for the Philosophy of Law group at this same university, and has worked as a contributor to the Spanish branch of Academics Stand Against Poverty. He is currently a junior researcher for the Global Governance and Democratic Government Programme at the Centre of Global Governance (KU Leuven), and a PhD scholar at the Institute of Philosophy (KU Leuven).
