The international annual EUTOPIA student-led conference. It is organized for and by the students with the help of the host university. This conference is to be hosted by a different partner every year and will permit the students of the EUTOPIA Alliance, as well as other international students, to attend debates on hot topics and potential scenarios linked to it.
Become EUTOPIAn Ambassador
Participate in a European project with prestigious universities, travel around Europe and working with students from all over, actively contribute to improving your learning process and that of future generations, improve your resume and acquire new skills and competences.
If you would like to do all those things, become an EUTOPIA ambassador and help create a new European University model. You will get academic recognition for your participation.
EURSS. EUTOPIA Undergraduate Research Support Scheme
The EURSS is a great opportunity for students to lead their own international research project. You will develop valuable transferable skills, build your confidence and enhance your CV and career prospects.
Mobility is a key component of the EURSS: you cannot carry out your entire research project in the same country as your home institution.
EUCI. EUTOPIA Certificate of Internationalisation
If you’re a registered student at one of the six universities in the EUTOPIA Alliance, you can complete this certificate and gain formal recognition for your international experiences and competencies.
In the current academic year (2020/21) we will be running a pilot version of this programme. A limited number of places will be offered, and participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and creation of learning materials.
The Open Innovation Challenge
The Open Innovation Challenge is the embodiment of EUTOPIA's will to transform universities into actors of societal change, fostering international and regional collaboration with public and private partners. It aims to test a new approach for universities:
Promoting student-centred ideas;
Allowing them to empower themselves and to orient them toward the contemporary challenges that our partners face;
Providing learning opportunities that take advantage of the plurality, potential and international vision of Europe.
EUTOPIA Student Think Tank
The EUTOPIA Student Council believes it is necessary to implement a series of platforms where students can express and share their brilliant work. That is why we created the EUTOPIA Student Think Tank (EUSTT), a place whose aim is to connect the knowledge, ideas and projects of students from the alliance.
An organisation that involves young people in policy-making processes and promotes values and human rights.
Collaboration in the organisation of events, debates and conferences that engage young people in the European University.
Promotion of projects that will target a large following of young Europeans (through Website and Social Media) delivered with the credibility and the perspective of a youth organisation.
Learning Communities. Educational Model
The EUTOPIA educational model is aligned with a challenge-based approach to learning and encourages application of knowledge and theory to real-world problems. The EUTOPIA students are involved in a common learning journey to find and implement meaningful solutions for complex issues in a European context. EUTOPIA thus foregrounds the importance of pedagogical excellence for the European university of the 21st century.
In order to realize this ambitious new model for higher education in Europe, EUTOPIA developed and employs the CoLeCo methodology: “From Learning Units to Connected Learning Communities”.
Joint Master’s Degree on International Studies and Integration
The network is working on the creation of a joint Master’s degree between Warwick’s Department of Politics and International studies and Vrije Universiteit Brussel’s Institute for European Studies in ‘International Studies and Integration’. Prior to this, the Department of Political and Social Sciences at UPF and the Department of Politics and International Studies at Warwick have offered a double degree since 2014. Other collaborative courses are also under discussion.
First International Youth Conference
On November 11-14, some thirty Europeans aged 18-24 are welcomed to a four-day conference in Gothenburg, organised by the Think tank project. Together with European decision-makers they will discuss how to sustain a democratic and open society during the first International Youth Conference.
Communicating in Science Conference
On 17 September 2019, the 4th Cutting Edge conference for early stage researchers took place at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana. The topic of the conference was “Communicating in Science”. The registration for students from EUTOPIA members was free of charge.
UPF summer school
UPF offers the Barcelona International Summer School (BISS) as a flagship programme to advance the curriculum of both domestic and international undergraduate students during the summer term in Barcelona. Courses are credit-bearing (ECTS) and can be taken in English, Spanish or Catalan in an international classroom environment. They are structured in modules of different duration and intensity, which can be flexibly combined in periods ranging from one to four weeks.
Bernat Payà, Student's representative for EUTOPIA at UPF
My name is Bernat Payà Majó, and I am UPF student’s representative for the EUTOPIA project. What attracted me most to the Alliance, and also pushed me forward for taking such a responsibility is its international, innovative and transformative nature, which also led me, two years ago, to opt for my current degree, Global Studies. Moreover, EUTOPIA is a project of and for students, which seeks to respond to our inquisitiveness and be the basis for a new era of cooperation and collective work with other European universities. In other words, it is a project in which we, the students, are the protagonists
